Authorship isn't automatic
Joining a project does not guarantee authorship. Authorship and author order should reflect actual contribution and be agreed within the project team, following recognised academic authorship standards where they apply. ProjectMed does not decide authorship or author order.
Outputs need supervisor approval
Abstracts, posters, presentations, manuscripts, reports and other project outputs should be approved by the project supervisor or team before they are submitted or shared.
Affiliations are agreed with the team
Institutional affiliations used on any output should be agreed with the supervisor or project team and reflect the relevant institutions' requirements. ProjectMed does not decide affiliations.
Ethics, governance and data access sit with the project team
Responsibility for identifying and obtaining the approvals, registrations and permissions a project needs rests with the supervisor and the relevant institution. Students should only access project data through arrangements the supervisor or institution has authorised.
Communicate early and honestly
Agree responsibilities and expected contribution at the start, keep in touch, and say so promptly if circumstances change or commitments can no longer be met.
ProjectMed's role
ProjectMed facilitates connections between students and professionals and helps manage collaborations, but does not supervise individual projects or determine their ethics, governance, data-access or institutional requirements.
