Terms and Conditions

ProjectMed is a platform that facilitates introductions between UK medical students and UK clinicians, academics and researchers for the purpose of medical student research collaborations. ProjectMed is not a party to any collaboration formed through the platform.

Medical student accounts. ProjectMed medical student accounts are intended exclusively for individuals currently enrolled on recognised UK undergraduate or graduate-entry medicine programmes. Users must provide accurate information and register using an eligible UK university email address ending in .ac.uk.

Healthcare professional accounts. Healthcare professional accounts are intended for eligible healthcare professionals, academics and researchers involved in medical research, education or medical research collaboration. Standard registration requires an NHS email (nhs.net or .nhs.uk) or a UK university email (.ac.uk). Professionals whose organisation uses a different professional email domain may submit a manual verification request for administrator review.

Registration using a university or professional email address does not by itself prove enrolment in a medicine programme or a specific professional role. ProjectMed may request additional evidence of eligibility at any time.

On registration, medical students receive the status “University email verified” after completing email verification and the eligibility declaration. The label “Verified medical student”, or an equivalent verified professional badge, is only applied where ProjectMed has completed additional manual verification.

Users must not:

• Impersonate another individual;
• Misrepresent their institution, course, professional status or qualifications;
• Provide false or misleading information at registration or on their profile;
• Use another person’s email address or account.

Medical students must ensure that the information they provide about their medical school, programme, year of study and medical student status is accurate and kept up to date.

Deliberate misrepresentation may result in:

• Removal from a collaboration;
• Investigation of the account;
• Suspension of the account;
• Termination of the account.

Medical Student Verification is optional. A student is never penalised simply for not having completed it; where the badge is absent, medical student status is self-declared and has not been independently verified by ProjectMed.

ProjectMed may restrict, suspend or permanently terminate accounts where eligibility cannot be confirmed, where false or misleading information has been provided, or where the eligibility declaration is later shown to be inaccurate. ProjectMed may also introduce additional identity or eligibility verification measures where necessary to protect users and the integrity of the platform.

ProjectMed only facilitates introductions. Once a student is accepted onto a project, the collaboration takes place outside the platform. ProjectMed is not responsible for:

• Publication outcomes
• Authorship decisions or contributor order
• Research quality or methodology
• Research supervision
• Intellectual property ownership or disputes
• Disagreements between collaborators
• Publication, conference or grant acceptance decisions
• Project completion or timelines

Users are solely responsible for the opportunities they advertise and the collaborations they enter into.

All users are expected to:

• Behave professionally at all times
• Act honestly and transparently
• Respect confidentiality
• Maintain the professional standards expected of UK medical students, clinicians and academics
• Treat collaborators respectfully

ProjectMed facilitates connections between students and professionals and helps manage collaborations, but does not supervise individual projects or determine their ethics, governance, data-access or institutional requirements. Responsibility for those, and for authorship, approval of outputs and affiliations, rests with the project team and the relevant institutions. See our Collaboration Expectations.

ProjectMed provides access to opportunities, not guaranteed outcomes. Nothing on the platform should be interpreted as a guarantee of publications, conference presentations, portfolio points, awards or authorship.

ProjectMed reserves the right to suspend or permanently remove accounts, and to archive project listings, where users breach these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law. We may also do so where we reasonably suspect fraudulent, misleading or inappropriate conduct.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ProjectMed accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of the platform, from collaborations entered into via the platform, or from the conduct of other users. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
